Brunch at Life

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Rob and I completely forgot to take any photos at Joey’s surprise 40th birthday party, but I managed to snap a few pics on my phone at brunch the next day at our old haunt, Life Cafe…

Halfway through our brunch we suddenly realized that we’d become those people…the kind we used to curse who’d bring noisy kids into Life Cafe while we were nursing our hangovers.

While Mum’s Away…

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Lorelei and I were shooting an interview at the Hudson Hotel, so the boys and Allyson brought along Evie and Elliette so we could feed the babes during our break. We were running late so they set up shop in the lobby bar. Here’s Elliette with her Auntie Allyson:

Mummy takes too long so Evie chills in the bar and has a drink with her dad instead.

Evie in the city

Monday, March 31st, 2008

We took Evie down to NYC for three days, where she spent her first evening with a babysitter, her Aunt Niki (who was making fun of her swaddle, calling it a straitjacket):

And she experienced the subway for the first time…

She also went to the Museum of Modern Art and took many many loops around Times Square in her pram as I was trying to get her to sleep… but we forgot to take photos of everything else except her outfits before leaving the hotel! Her new squirrel babygro:

Happy Christmas from New York

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

We went down to NYC for a pre-Christmas trip with Maureen (see BigCountryHouse.com for the extended selection of pics). Here we are posing at the hotel in our new Christmas hats from the Union Square Holiday Market…

Here we are posing with the tree at Rockefeller Center…

And here we are posing (sensing a theme here?) with a Father Christmas we found at the wedding reception…

Let it snow

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

It snowed while we were in NYC… though Rob made the mistake of trying to get a pic of the two of us in the snow before I’d had breakfast… I wasn’t much in the mood for smiling for the camera…

After a quick trip to Starbucks… much better!

NYC Weekend

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

This past weekend Rob and I hopped on a train to NYC for Mitch (Bernstein) and Leslie’s wedding. Despite the rabbit rabbi extolling the “deep and abiding love shared by Leslie and Stu,” it was a lovely evening…

The next day we met up with Chris, Angela, Howard, and Kathy for a bluegrass brunch in the East Village:

Sunday was also the first snow of the year, but Rob won’t let me post any of the snow pics here because he wants their debut to be on BigCountryHouse!

NYC with Cat & Tom

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

NYC was the first stop on Cat & Tom’s round-the-world trip, so Rob and I drove down to the city for the night to show them around (though admittedly I had done some research on the Internet in advance to make sure that I still knew where some cool bars were!). We met them at Schiller’s for dinner first (the site of Hannah and Rob’s infamous, boozy first meeting) but forgot to take any photos. Had a brief celebrity sighting: Jim from the American “Office”. Then we moved onto Motor City, a biker bar that no longer has any bikers in it on the Lower East Side. The bar was playing very cool music which led Rob and Tom into a very serious discussion about very cool music:

For some reason I ordered a non-alcoholic beer even though I don’t even like alcoholic beer…

Cat and I working on our “speak to our men over there if you’ve got a problem with us” faces…

I think this was round three, though I was still struggling through my first non-alcoholic beer. Normally I’d ask the bartender to top it up with lemonade, but it was a biker bar after all…

Next we took them to Max Fish…

…where Cat made us capture all our extra chins. Shortly after this photo was taken, Tom dropped his wedding ring on the floor and then forgot that he should start looking for it, so we decided it was about time to call it a night!

But not without a quick stop for a photo op in front of One & One so we could show TomCat where Hannah used to live. We’re all looking in different directions because Rob and Tom were taking photos at the same time… Wish you were here, Han!
